Walks

The Ely Society is proud to present an ever-expanding series of walks centred around our city.

Each of the walks below is formatted as 2-pages of A4, for you to print out at home. They work best with a colour printer, but black-and-white users need not feel excluded; there’s enough detail there that you should have no trouble finding your way.

We hope you enjoy these walks. We are still working on new ones, so if there is nothing here for you today, please pop back from time-to-time for another look. As always, if you have any comments or suggestions, or find something we have missed, please let us know.

The “Photographers’ Walk”.
In our opinion, this walk shows some of the best views of Ely. Take your camera on this one! For something a bit different, why not try this early in the morning, or as dusk is falling?

Lazy Sunday.
Life shouldn’t always be fast and frantic. If you fancy something a bit more relaxed, with a few pubs along the way, why not try our “Lazy Sunday” walk?

Jubilee Gardens Super-spy.
One for the kids! If your young children have way too much energy and you need an hour outside, why not try this “eye-spy” game in Jubilee Gardens. Only super-spys need apply for this job.

The small print:

Unless otherwise stated, these walks are intended only for fit, healthy, responsible, adults. In addition, we have tried hard to make these walks suitable for people with limited mobility, and walk-specific information relating to this is given on the second page of each of the route descriptions. However, if you do have limited mobility, you know your strengths and weaknesses far better than we do; please accept that we can give advice, but the final decision on whether to attempt the walk is yours alone. If you are not comfortable with this, please do not attempt any of our walks.

None of these routes are suitable for unsupervised children.

Ely is a rural location. Although we have chosen these routes carefully, you may come up against biting or stinging insects, poisonous or thorny plants, livestock, and other dangers. Occasionally, you may have to cross, or walk alongside, a road or river. We cannot exclude all danger from these walks and you follow them at your own risk. If you are walking with children, they must be supervised at all times. If you are not prepared to accept this risk (and associated responsibility), please do not download or follow these walks.
